With 22 recordings and millions of albums sold, it is true to say that Danny Wright's music is playing 24 hours a day in both the U.S. and around the world. One of New Age music's finest performers, Wright is a brilliantly talented pianist who has sold over 4 million CDs since his debut album in 1986. In 1993 and 1994, he was named by Billboard Magazine as a Top 10 artist in the New Age genre. Three of his albums were included in Billboard's Top 10 New Age Albums in 1992, 1993 and 1994, and he has twice been nominated by the National Association of Record Merchandisers as the Best Seller in the New Age category.

Danny Wright's destiny began to unfold at age four when he reached up and played the theme from Dr. Zhivago on the piano in the family's living room. Recognizing an exceptional gift, his parents arranged for study under the respected professor, Dr. Harris Cavender. Since that time, Danny's life has consisted of his love of music, the piano and his desire to share his gift with others. His warm, outgoing personality combined with extraordinary talent has enabled him to touch millions of listeners through his recordings and concerts.

Trained as a classical pianist, Wright composes and performs original compositions that are blended with various influences including contemporary jazz, classical and neoclassical. CD Review describes his original compositions as "...fluidly crafted, backed up by exquisite musicianship." Wright also performs his own gorgeous arrangements of Broadway and film classics by well-loved composers. When not in the studio recording, Danny performs in concert as a guest artist with pops symphonies and has appeared in concert at top venues from the Berklee Performance Center in Boston to the Schoenburg Hall in Los Angeles.

In 2000, Danny Wright signed with Sausalito-based record label, Real Music, who released Soul Mates in January 2001. Eight of the eleven songs are Wright's original compositions and three his unique and beautiful arrangements of favorite songs. Do You Live, Do You Love was released in July 2002. It includes ten original compositions, two of them songs from the musical Phantom Immortal, for which Wright was commissioned to write the music, and one motion picture theme. In March 2003, Real Music released Danny Wright Healer of Hearts, a newly recorded 2 CD collection of his 25 best-loved songs. Disc 1 is comprised of favorite cover tunes recorded for his top selling Black and White Series and Disc 2 includes the best of his original compositions prior to 1999. Soul Mates, Do You Live, Do You Love and Danny Wright Healer of Hearts have all been Billboard charting albums, with Danny Wright Healer of Hearts achieving top ten status and continuing to appear on the chart each week.

No heart or story is too small to touch Wright. All of his CDs include songs written in response to a fan he may never have met, a child or adult in need of healing or for a wedding, anniversary or other cause for celebrations. It is from real life experiences that Danny draws his inspiration and through his composing and playing that he is truly a "healer of hearts." His love for animals and the innocence of children inspire him to perform numerous benefit concerts in support of such organizations as the Humane Society, the Pediatric AIDs foundation and the American Red Cross. Danny also plays concerts in support of Breast Cancer Awareness in gratitude that his mother is a breast cancer survivor.

Danny Wright is a Steinway artist.

Danny Wright Healer of Hearts Reviews

"For over 15 years, pianist Danny Wright has been touching people's hearts with his evocative piano compositions. His music reflects an idealized life, where the sun always shines, hope springs eternal and love conquers all. HEALER OF HEARTS is a two disc retrospective that captures some of the most memorable moments of Wright's career. The first disc delves into the cream of his "Black & White" series of romantic classics, including themes from "Forrest Gump," "Terms of Endearment" and "The Way We Were," as well as Pachelbel's "Canon in D" and "Memory." Disc two shows Wright's creative side with thirteen of his original compositions, including "Autumn" and "Daydreams."

“Healer of Hearts” is a double-CD collection of “The Best of The Black and White Series” and “The Best of Original Compositions.” Pianist Danny Wright made new recordings of previously-released material from a career that began in 1986, and assembled a very impressive collection of his gentle, evocative pieces. I’m really glad that the originals and covers are on different CDs, as I vastly prefer Wright’s original compositions. I’m sure many people will disagree with me, as The Black and White series has been very popular, but, as a piano teacher, many of these are songs that are played all the time - “Pachelbel’s Canon in D,” “Over the Rainbow,” “Memory,” “Brian’s Song,” etc. Don’t get me wrong - these are all great songs, and Danny Wright arranges and plays them to perfection - it’s just that I hear them so often that it’s not really a treat (one of the hazards of my job, I suppose!). Wright’s piano touch is so delicate that, under his hands, it’s hard to imagine that the piano is classified as a percussion instrument. His composing style is usually very light, conveying warmth and a sense of peace and serenity. Some of the pieces are solo piano, and some are more orchestrated - mostly with synth strings. Some of the titles on the “Original” disc are “Wings of Hope,” “Awakening,” “Phantasy,” and “Guardian Angel.” “Song for Lea” makes me smile because of the tremendous control it takes to do a long glissando, end on precisely the correct note, and then continue the run without a pause - I’m impressed! “Healer of Hearts” is a very inviting and enjoyable collection, and provides a soothing musical massage for body and soul."

Do You Live, Do You Love Reviews

"4 million sales later it should be clear by now that Wright's success is based in large part on his ability to make it look and sound easy. Can you imagine how many bitter piano players are working the lobbies of Nordstrom's wondering why they don't get a break when they listen to this? Such is the problem at running ahead of the curve. Wright trades on his hallmark gentle touch but still takes it to new and exciting places and turns in a new effort that is much more than just another skew number. Adult piano fans have a new, hot winner here."

"Danny Wright's newest release brings the listener smooth and soothing piano music to calm and refresh. Even more tranquil than “Soul Mates”, “Do You Live, Do You Love” delivers piano serenity with sweet and gentle melodies that float in the air like the lightest of breezes. I usually find it impossible to keep music in the background, but something about this album keeps if from being intrusive in any way. The pieces are all lovely and very worthy of close listening attention, but after a few minutes, they tend to blend into whatever else is going on, providing a quiet and inviting backdrop. Nine of the eleven tracks are original. The cover tracks are beautiful arrangements of Dvorak's “Largo” from the “New World Symphony”, and “The Friendship Theme” from “Beaches” (DeLerue). The title track is perhaps the most distinctive of the songs, with its bittersweet and searching melody on piano and string washes in the background. I also really like “River's Edge”. The somewhat melancholy melody suggests soul-searching and looking for answers while gazing into the flowing water of a river. Anyone who has done this by any body of water knows how the rhythms mesmerize and sometimes even caress the mind, bringing a sense of stillness and peace. Several titles such as “Heaven's Love”, “A Time to Heal”, and
“New Hope for Peace” suggest that they may have been written after the 9/11 tragedy with deep thoughtfulness and comfort as their themes. They succeed well in uplifting and bringing solace, as does the album as a whole. You won't find any pianistic pyrotechnics on “Do You Live, Do You Love”, but if you are looking for musical sunshine or the perfect CD for unwinding and de-stressing, they don't get much better than this!

"In the pantheon of new age pianists, Danny Wright, with his versatility and gentle playing style, is one of the more accomplished performers to tickle the ivories. His latest release, Do You Live, Do You Love, features tunes that cling to the romantic, sentimental side of the songwriting spectrum. The album features two covers – a twinkly tune from the movie “Beaches” and an upbeat rendition of the “Largo” from Dvorak’s “New World Symphony.” The rest is pure Wright, his sunshine on a rainy day melodies intact on each of the remaining pieces, including the lilting “New Hope for Peace” and the “Love Story” –esque “In Time We Met.” In addition to solo piano, the album also features light accompaniment on violin and orchestra."

Soul Mates -A Billboard Charting Album! 12 weeks on Billboard's New Age Chart. Up to #14. Soul Mates Reviews

"Soul Mates is Danny Wright’s debut release on Real Music, though he’s sold over four million records through (a previous) label. He’s a warmly romantic composer and an exquisite pianist with the gentlest, most expressive hands on the keys. His graceful compositions have moved me to tears, offering a tender release from the tensions of the day. He often composes songs as gifts to friends or to help support a worthy cause. It’s clear that his heart and hands are directly connected, as the music he makes provides much solace to an aching heart.

Accompanying Wright are two violinists, Lauren Laing and Milo Deering. All but three of the compositions, "The Water is Wide," "Everything Must Change" and "The Prayer," are his. Favorites include "Everlasting Love," which he wrote and played for friends at their wedding. With a lush, luminous melody and heavenly strings, I can readily imagine many couples wanting this song as part of their wedding. "Tender Moments" was written as a tribute for some friends, and the melody is as enchanting as anything I’ve heard in ages. Soul Mates is for those who love piano-based music at its most achingly lovely. Listeners will do well to become soul mates with this outstanding album."

"Just heard Danny Wright’s first release on Real Music – Soul Mates – and wanted to tell you now much I love it. It is exquisite. Danny plays from the heart – with real tenderness and feeling—and his original songs are breathtaking. His music soars—he’s free, spiritually and artistically—and he’s never sounded better. Please congratulate him on this fantastic release and please bring us many more!"

"Danny Wright’s first album for Real Music has been a very happy surprise for me. I’ve been familiar with Wright’s many collections of pop and show tunes but with cover arrangements of hit songs, it is often difficult for me to find the soul and real emotional content hiding under all the frills, trills and arpeggios. So until now, Wright hasn’t been one of my favorite artists. That has suddenly changed, as the emotional power of the piano sings through this entire album. Eight of the eleven pieces are original, bringing a much warmer and more personal feel to this album than earlier releases. This could be the start of something great!

The opening track, "Angel Voices" was composed for The Tornado Relief Fund and is both melancholy and hopeful — the violins tug at the heartstrings. Soul Mates is dedicated to Barbra Streisand as a source of inspiration for all aspects of Wright’s career. Delicate, yet very strong, this piece is a loving tribute that should touch anyone’s heart. "The Water is Wide" is a traditional spiritual that seems to be enjoying newfound popularity, and Wright’s treatment is among the best with a lovely violin counterpart. "Keys to the Heart," "Tender Moments" and "Everlasting Love" are heartfelt love songs, pure and simple. "Together Forever" is in memory of the Kennedy/Bisset plane crash and the sudden sense of loss we all felt when we heard the news of this tragic event. Sad without being maudlin or melodramatic, the addition of ocean sounds at the beginning and end of the piece define it as being their song "forever."
Danny Wright should find a whole new audience with this excellent album. His original pieces stand tall and strong among the well-known cover compositions, and I hope he and Real Music will continue to release his own work. Bravo and both thumbs up!"

"SOUL MATES by Danny Wright. Original, sincerely emotional piano compositions and arrangements sound notes of sentimentality for love lost and found on these reflective recordings. Wright’s Steinway resonates richly, requiring minimal additional instrumentation. The violin counterpart in "The Water is Wide" moves so fluidly with the keyboard it’s as if both instruments become one, melting individual notes together. The compositions span a broad societal and emotional array, touching on themes from tornado relief to weddings to first grandchild’s birth. This is a mature work, and my favorite Wright CD so far -- a fitting follow-up to his previous recordings, which have sold over 4,000,000 copies." ~ BT NAPRA Review May/June 2001
