Chuck WildI originally wrote the music of Liquid Mind to help myself, my friends and family dealing with the anxiety and stress of working long hours, and also for friends and family dealing with the stress of life-threatening illnesses like cancer & HIV. The Liquid Mind albums seem to have an immediate "slowing down" effect on the listener and may help some people get to sleep, as well as to relax deeply after a tension-filled day.

The ultimate compliment to me is that people fall asleep to my music. This is functional music. It serves the purpose of assisting us to be tranquil, when that may not be easy in today's world. That is why the compositions are longer than normal, and very slow in tempo. This music is very special to me, it is my labor of love, I hope you enjoy it.  Chuck Wild

Liquid Mind's Involvement in Music Therapy

From the new issue of Music Therapy Matters:  "Composer and songwriter, Chuck Wild has composed music specially designed for music therapists to use in treatment programs. Now available on the AMTA member website:  customized, downloadable music for use in your music therapy practice.  Each of the five songs available may be used freely by AMTA members (in .mp3 form, or by making your own CD) without paying a license fee, (subject to the disclaimer and licensing terms).

Each song was composed and performed by Chuck Wild, representing a different musical style and is available at eight different tempi ranging from 40 beats per minute to 110 beats per minute. Each song maintains an audible pulse at the specified tempo. Inspired by his collaborations with AMTA and numerous music therapists, Chuck composed this music knowing the many ways in which this would help patients dealing with motor impairments. This customized music may be most suitable for "rhythmic cuing" during gait training and ambulation for some patients; however a variety of applications could be applied.

Patients using rhythmically cued music for habilitative or rehabilitative purposes should be under the supervision of qualified and experienced music therapists practicing within their scope of practice. A big “thank you” to Chuck Wild for his generosity in making this music available to professional members of AMTA. Thanks also go to Dr. Alicia Clair for her assistance and consultation in coordinating the availability of this music."

Chuck Wild Honored

Congratulations, Chuck Wild, award-winning composer and producer of the best-selling Liquid Mind Series Wild was honored on November 12, 2009, at the American Music Therapy Association's convention with a Presidential Award for outstanding advocacy, generosity and support of the music therapy profession. From AMTA's web site:

"Music Therapy is an established healthcare profession that uses music to address physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs of individuals of all ages.  Music therapy improves the quality of life for persons who are well and meets the needs of children and adults with disabilities or illnesses.  Music therapy interventions can be designed to promote wellness, manage stress, alleviate pain, express feelings, enhance memory, improve communication and promote physical rehabilitation."

Biography

Liquid Mind is the name used by Los Angeles composer and producer Chuck Wild. There are few composers with as much love for slowness in their music as Wild. Chuck draws from classical and pop influences as varying as Beethoven and Brian Eno, Bartok and Rachmaninoff, Bach, Chopin and Fauré, Duruflé and Brahms.

Early live and studio experience with the Capitol Records’ group “Missing Persons”, and studio work with Frank Zappa, Michael Jackson and many others have helped Chuck to develop high production values. Spending many studio hours over the years with five time Grammy winning engineer Bruce Swedien and famed producer Ken Scott has inspired Chuck to explore unique and subtle gradations of sound and feeling in his music.

Chuck's musical experience spans three decades, including writing 125 songs and compositions used in TV/Film and albums. The Pointer Sisters, Tommy Page, Timothy Leary, Wink, Jennifer Rush, Thelma Houston, Glen Medeiros and Philip Bailey are just some of the artists who have recorded his songs. Wild co-composed music with Michael Hoenig for the Emmy (TM) winning ABC-TV series Max Headroom. In 1992, his first composition for two pianos, Los Angeles Fantasy, was premiered by Zita Carno and Gloria Ching at the Bing Theater in Los Angeles. The same year, Wild co-scored the Academy Award (TM) winning film The Panama Deception. In 1989, he co-wrote (with Marti Sharron) the song "You're My One and Only," #1 hit in Europe for Jennifer Rush. Over the last twenty years, Chuck has lent his studio talents to projects with Michael Jackson, Paula Abdul, Missing Persons, Philip Bailey, Frank Zappa, and many other artists.

Testimonials

Dear Chuck (Wild, composer of the Liquid Mind series),Your music means the world to me:  I used to constantly buy cds, (first tapes in the early days), get sick of the melodies, beautiful though they were, and need to buy more.Your music is like a wind in the trees - I float with it, my clients love it, and I never get tired of it, being more ethereal than melodic. Blessings on your wonderful work - I appreciate you daily all the 6 years or so since I gratefully stumbled on Liquid Mind.

Time to order more, and what a delicious treat that will be, but now:  off to work I go.

Dear Karen/Real Music, I had to write you today to thank you for introducing me to the Liquid Mind CDs. This morning I used the music during a mindfulness meditation in which I just tried to put all my focus on the music, without judgment or the usual yakking interior monologue that characterizes so much of my life. I have to say...what a beautiful experience! I found myself filled, drenched, suffused in a deep peace and an intense joy. I have used the CDs many times during my morning meditations but today was the first time I'd tried to use them for a mindfulness meditation, rather than a guided one. Thank you so much for introducing me to this wonderful composer and his beautiful music. As a horse woman, you will appreciate that I then went out to work with my mare on a couple of lateral moves we have been trying to perfect...and lo and behold, today we achieved greatness. I attribute this fact directly to this morning's meditation with Liquid Mind, which brought me to the saddle with a great sense of joy and ease with the world. So thank you.

Best regards, Anstasia Burke December 2008 www.horsevacation.blogspot.com

Dear Real Music,
I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your kindness and thoughtfulness. The CD you sent me, Touching Beauty, is wonderful.  It is as if you knew me and the kind of music I love. I put that CD in my truck and it has played over and over and I still want to hear it again and again.
As far as the Liquid Mind CD’s, I now have all of them, so far, 1 thru 9 and Relax: A Liquid Mind Experience. Thanks to you and Chuck Wild my life is a little less stressful.

Thanks again for being so nice to me,
Jerry N.

Liquid Mind - Recommended for Soul-Bathing

. . . when Cryosleep went silent just before Christmas this year, I was suddenly without a fix, so I went to the Artists page hoping to find a hit or two of musical soothe.  And after a few visits to Google, I fell into Chuck Wild’s Liquid Mind series - stopping there because of all the tracks on Cryosleep, his were the ones I’d stop dead for.

The thing for me when I first heard Liquid Mind (even before I knew who Chuck Wild was) was that I’d discovered a hand reaching out to hold mine.  It was as if I’d turned a dark corner into a secret garden safe from the marauding 21st century.  It was a voice in my ear that said softly and powerfully, ‘it’s ok - I know what you’re holding, and you can let go for now - let me carry it for a while’.  The music to me is silence and tranquility in sound, and I can sit and feel the tangled strands of my thoughts slowly unwind into smoothed out rows of bundled thread.  For me, it unlocks a sadness and a joy that has no other way out, giving both some air to breathe before being submerged again to face another day in the world.

It took me a while of listening, and a listen to the composer’s audio interview off the Liquid Mind website, to understand what gives this plainly static music its power.  Through the slow, drifting, gorgeous chords he puts out, anchored by really, really deep basses, and voiced in wide, expansive canvases, there is an almost subliminal pulsation - either in the sounds themselves, or through arpeggios and rythmic lines ever-so-carefully  submerged in the ocean of sound each track holds.  So, when the composer said his inspiration was from hours of standing by the Pacific Ocean, which had given him solace from his pain, I got it.  Here was the feel of the ocean in music - no sound effects needed (thanks for that, dude) - he’d found a way to describe the hypnotic sound of waves and the potential of power a calm sea holds.

I could go on, but I won’t (if you’ve made it this far, thanks for sticking with me) . . . You can hear samples of all the albums and purchase downloads or CDs (I’ve bought three so far; Unity, Reflection and Spirit. And finally, I have to thank Chuck Wild for this series - you’ve touched me with your work, and I’m forever thankful.  I hope this post is a small way of returning the favour.

I'm amazed at the myriad of poorly planned meditative tracks available for sale -- they're noisy, too rhythmic, and if you're a musician like me, far too distractive (solos, minor scales that drone on forever, etc.). Liquid Mind kept coming up on my Pandora radio and I'd know it immediately because of its absolutely soothing, empathatic qualities. I could buy a track and track my own personal visualization or affirmations over it and know it would be picture perfect. Thanks to Mr. Wild for understanding the need to quiet the busy mind. -- PC

My husband and I play the Relax CD each night as we go to sleep. I feel as if I breathe to the music. I almost never hear the end of the CD, which is a good thing! It's not music you can "remember," so it's always new each night and I never know when one song ends and the next track begins, so my mind is free to "relax" and fall asleep. Thank you for such wonderful compositions!

I have been listening to Liquid mind ever since I discovered this incredible music in May 2007, while I was in Oregon training with my first Guide Dog. after losing him to cancer, I used this music along with the support of many friends to help me cope with the dog's passing and heal from the anxiety, guilt, and depression that followed. To this day, I still find it uplifting in times where things just don't seem to be going well, and it helps keep my happy memories of that dog alive and my anxiety level down, especially at night. I know he is in a better place. Thank you for continuing to create such wonderfully soothing music, and keep up the phenominal work. smilies/smiley.gif

Your biggest fan in New Orleans may be your smallest as well. My 6 year old daughter Alexandra has forsaken all of the other "lullaby" cd's that I bought for her to listen to your music. "Sleep" is on a seven week run now, soon to overtake eight week run of "Serenity"!!. Keep making this beautiful music that brings joy to those both young and old. Thank you.

Chuck,

I actually met you when I was 16 yrs old in Jacksonville, FL back when you were touring with Missing Persons. I was quite a fan back then. Still am in fact! I have to add that you were very kind to me. (Chuck's just one of those purely nice people, folks) Fast forward to today...I was listening to one of my Pandora channels when a particularly wonderful track (Laguna Indigo) caught me ear. So I clicked to learn more about Liquid Mind and was thrilled to see your name. I love what you're doing these days and eager to buy more of your music.

Best, etc.
