Living the Northern Summer

Dear Jim (Chappell), Just a brief note to let you know how much I enjoy your music and arrangements. “Embrace of a Lifetime” is one of the most beautiful melodies I have ever heard. I noticed on the back of the CD “Living the Northern Summer” that you dedicated it to your father. My mom passed away recently and this is exactly the kind of song that she loved. I think of her whenever I hear it now. Thanks for that. Best wishes, RP, Fair Lawn, NJ, 6/26/09

Living the Northern Summer comment

Dear Mr. Chappell, I just wanted to send you a thank you note for your gift of music! I bought your tape “Living the Northern Summer.” This was also the year we learned that my mother had breast cancer. The shock of her condition and my fear of losing her were so intense. I recall almost nothing of my “regular” life during this year. However, to keep myself strong and spirited for both her healing and my grief I played this album daily. The happy songs made me uplifted and the sad ones brought the tears, which were so important and cleansing in such times. Even now, this tape and your musical “soundtrack” to my real life crisis of family cancer have imprinted the same effect. Whether you knew it or not, your wonderful, very emotional music gave me the strength I needed to help Mom. I am happy to say, 6 years later, she is free of cancer and it was not until today, while playing “In Search of the Magic” that I found your address to send you this note of appreciation.
