Music Design

AIR, from Peter Kater’s gorgeous “Elements” series, focuses on music that is light, spacious and ethereal. Featuring the aid of Grammy-nominated instrumentalist Paul McCandless and flutist Richard Hardy, the music offers a sublime tapestry of soothing woodwinds, elegant piano and flowing synthesizer atmosphere. “Peaceful” would be the best word to describe the mood of this album; the music is so serene and uplifting that it will lull you into a state of complete comfort. The melodies have an improvised, non- structured feel, which would make this good music for massage or healing work. Dan Cowan, Music Design

Home Theater High Fidelity

If you're seeking music that can invoke the warmth of holiday season without specific religious implications, check out Air, which joins Earth, Fire, and Water to comprise Grammy-nominated pianist Peter Kater's Elements Series. The first track, "Wings of Sound," offers over 20 minutes of extended bliss, an easy, somewhat repetitive flow ideal for relaxing by the fire. "Flying Dreams" is a spacier excursion, "All Souls" (with its organ-like conclusion) and "Heaven's Gate" returning to the planetary reverie of the opening track. Richard Hardy's bamboo and silver flutes and Grammy-nominated Paul McCandless' penny whistles, oboe, clarinet and soprano sax join Kater's piano, synthesizer and vocals, producing a disc that is more about being than thinking about same. ~ Jason Victor Serinus, Home Theater High Fidelity

Amazing Sounds

With his usual style, romantic, sweet and melodic, Peter Kater has composed for this album four beautiful instrumental pieces, which range from the most folk side in his style, and the most meditative or Ambient side. Some compositions or parts are merry, even boisterous, whereas others have a certain melancholy touch. The music reaches deep inside when listened to with due attention and peace of mind. In a word, this is a very pleasant work to listen to. Pascual Jurado, Amazing Sounds
