Let yourself disappear into this gentle, tranquil world where a symphony of beautiful instruments plays along with the sounds of nature. Charles Ka'upu lends his profound Hawaiian chanting to transport you to the lush, healing warmth of the tropics.
Like ONE, his Real Music debut, Mark Ciaburri is in the zone for meditation with his sophomore effort, this time traveling from the sacred spaces of Asia to the languid beauty of the islands. Tropical Meditation features several elongated tracks that blend piano, flute and slide guitar with ocean ambience (waves lapping, gulls chattering) and sweeping synth backdrops. Ciaburri does provide vocals from time to time, and his voice has a sweet, emotive quality that is similar in nature to that of Patrick Bernard. In general, the atmosphere created here is incredibly soothing with a nice, gentle pace, making it a worthy addition to the library of any relaxation music aficionado.
Kind of like those old NorthSound music and nature records but better. One difference is that this music was inspired by Hawaii. Who ever wants their winter fun can keep it; give the rest of us Hawaii. With some real new age stars helping things along, the show piece hour long suite is something new and different for the label. Created over time in a studio with a great Hawaiian vista, it seems like the view charged up the players. If a set like this can’t ease the pain of a traffic jam, nothing can.
