Composer and arranger Sayama crafted this epic celestial production to flow with the qi gong form of modern day Shaolin master Shi Xinggui. There are seven compositions on this CD that are all intended to accompany and sustain a tranquil inner equilibrium.
The instruments used on the album are Asian bamboo flutes, Chinese stringed instruments, piano, harp, gongs, hand percussion, keyboards and samples. But along with that there is a symphony of voices being used to create a buoyant result that will keep meditation practitioners feeling peaceful.
I like this CD for its wide range of sweeping arrangements and musicianship, however, it does get a bit ambitious. On “Gently Awakening” and “Seamless Movement” the combination of celestial harp cadences, light piano melodies, synthetic string pads and voices all come together to create a highly produced epic sound that is very layered and ambient.
All of the recordings have impeccable production and the audio quality is thoroughly professional and polished. The album is certainly a fine match for Reiki and healing ambience, though it may not be the perfect marriage for most yoga classes.
