To compose and produce a solo album is always hard work. To begin I had exactly 40 new tunes — only thirteen of the very best made it to the album. While playing and recording I was in a state of complete concentration — really lost in another world. Sometimes the process was fraught with stress, while other times I reached a kind of “floating world” and the music came freely. As more and more music accrued during the recording process, with the piano and all the other instruments flowing well together and with the flute enriching the melodies, the music calmed me, and I knew I was close.
The music made me think of memorable days in my life, wonderful memories, from childhood or a few years ago, a sunny and warm day, feeling free and happy, an unforgettable and beautiful day, a day worth living life for — and thus I had the title for the new album, Day of Life.
