The Staples Center was glistening with stars last night for the 55th Annual Grammy Awards. Among them, Real Music's own, Omar Akram was winner in the Best New Age Album category for his album Echoes of Love, released June, 2012.

In the small town of Cateura, Paraguay, innovative members of the community, as well as the children they are teaching, are teaming up to create instruments from the environment that surrounds them: the landfill their town sits upon. The program, now known as the Recycled Orchestra, originally another branch of the program Sounds of the Earth, gives children the ability to learn an instrument while also recycling the materials around them.

I’m still impressed, nearly a year later by the detailed sound design and melodies that are shaped by laser brushes with feather strokes. And David puts lots of shadows and dark undertows in these songs that keep it from being simply pretty.”

Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013 You are invited to join GRAMMY Nominee, Omar Akram at the exclusive VIP Foundation Room, House of Blues in Hollywood, as he performs music from his GRAMMY nominated album Echoes of Love and other favorites from his previous albums. Special guest: Pedro Eustache, “World Music” woodwinds-reeds-wind synthesizers and creative solo flutist. Also joining Omar, guitarist and oudist Dimitris Mahlis, bassist Hussain Jiffry and drummer Ronnie Ciago.

Patrick Henry Hughes was born without eyes and is confined to a wheelchair, however this does not stop him from creating beautiful music on the piano and trumpet alike. Born with an incredible ear for music Patrick could repeat the sounds he heard on the piano after only a few tries before the age of 1, and started playing pieces on the piano by request before the age of 5. By the time he was in elementary school, Patrick was playing classical music, by high school he was into R&B. Non discriminate of the genre Patrick's love for music flourished.

When was the last time you listened to an album from the first track consecutively through to the last track? In this digital age of MP3 players, CDs and streaming it is rarely on the forefront of the listeners mind as to why the songs are listed in a specific sequence on any given album. Here at Real Music putting an album together is more than just the music, although the music is the showcase, the stage must be set. The order in which the titles are presented on each album is paramount to the conveyance of what the artist desires to reveal to the listener.
