When was the last time you listened to an album from the first track consecutively through to the last track? In this digital age of MP3 players, CDs and streaming it is rarely on the forefront of the listeners mind as to why the songs are listed in a specific sequence on any given album. Here at Real Music putting an album together is more than just the music, although the music is the showcase, the stage must be set. The order in which the titles are presented on each album is paramount to the conveyance of what the artist desires to reveal to the listener. Artistic consideration is extended to each song and the feelings or mood it evokes and where in the order of the album it belongs. Although there is no magical, winning formula for song order, many artists put their “gateway song” at the beginning of the album, a song that not only catches the audience, but sets the mood. Tempo, key, sound and mood are all taken into consideration when ordering the songs on the rest of the album. The last song should leave an impression either comforting or energizing tempting the listener to begin the album again. Real Music and our artists take time and deliberation in creating a cohesive journey through the progression of the tracks, creating a musical storyline. This especially evident in our newest release Stillness: A Collection.
