Spirit of Nature

This is Kenio Fuke's second album for Real Music and once again he delivers a wonderfully peaceful set of 14 songs that deliver a meditative environment to the listener that will be an island of calm in the midst of the daily rush that so many of us are caught up in as we step out of our homes each day. The second cut on the album opens with the quiet and very appropriate sounds of birds greeting us along with piano, guitar and some orchestral music mixed a little further into the background. The song is called “Secrets of Life” and seems to hit upon the idea that one of those secrets is being able to relax into your life and actually enjoy just being alive. Kenio's music reflects that fact back to each of us through the music that he has written. Many of us in the ambient/new age field have come to expect songs to be lengthy in order achieve the immersive atmospheres that we are looking for but I think that Kenio's music is able to do that in slices of life that last about 5 minutes or so.

The watchword of Kenio's music and his expectations for the listener is simplicity and he delivers that on each and every song. Today's world is already filled with too much complexity and stress so Kenio delivers something in his music that acts as a remedy to the toxicity that besets us and that remedy is music that is filled with gentle soothing sounds that create a rich, emotional landscape that allows the listener to linger without feeling any pressure to do or be something other than themselves. The piano parts are delicate and skillfully played by Kenio that seem to ooze a comforting and reassuring vibe that says it's ok to stop for a few minutes and just relax.

I love the cello that makes an appearance on the song called “Light” and as the guitar and orchestra/instruments are added in the song it weaves a tapestry that delights the listener with a unified painting of sound that portrays a harmony of purpose that we all should seek in our lives. The album itself which is called Spirit of Nature also reflects this unity of all things in its approach to life and the songs that he has chosen to include on this album. It is just as important to know what to include as it is to know what to leave out to create the atmosphere that you are aiming for and Kenio has expertly woven this album into something that communicates the message of peace that permeates each of the 14 tracks on this release.

Many of the songs will become favorites of mine as I continue to listen but I'm sure you the listener will find your own favorites for your own reasons as you put this CD into your player. Real Music has been discovering and releasing some great music over the years and continues with this release by Kenio Fuke and his album called Spirit of Nature. Definitely recommended.
