Touched by Love, the new Bernward Koch release on the Real Music label, pulls from Koch’s considerable discography to showcase his strongest love-themed compositions, and includes two new efforts — “Memories of a Cherry Tree” and “Hope.”
“Walking through Clouds” is contemplative music that showcases the considerable possibility of paths that Koch can take with each effort on Touched by Love. “Long Way Home” is able to utilize a slower and much more planned sound which adds considerably to the overall gravitas of the composition. “Memories of a Cherry Tree” has a resounding feel to it owing to the reverberations of each note. During this track, Koch harkens back to classical compositions while having a vibrant and contemporary new age flair. The large amount of ground that he is able to cover within this four minute track ensures that Touched by Love has considerable replay value. “The Enchanted Path” is a track that possesses considerable narrative qualities. The ability of each element in the composition to shine on its own, as well as contribute to such an effect is rare. The placement of “The Enchanted Path” at the midway point during Touched by Love will give listeners the invigoration that they need to complete the album with as much gusto as they began it. “Hope” is one of this release’s longest tracks, but the measured approach that Koch takes here will have fans hanging on every note. The inclusion of a synthesizer during the second half of “Hope” allows for an entirely different set of relationships to be fostered between the instruments.
With Touched by Love, Koch is able to make a number of classic tracks sound new again, all while providing additional worth to buyers through the inclusion of “Memories of a Cherry Tree” and “Hope.”
