Flow

Flow by The Haiku Project

Flow is both worldly and otherworldly, meditative, and above all, deeply relaxing. Its symphonic sounds are wonderfully subtle; while acoustic instrumentation rounds it out with warmth and depth. Flow flows from song to song, staying true to song titles such as “Vision,” “Floating,” “Eternity,” and “Atlantis.” It sets a stage for your imagination to take flight and play, discover and dream.

Breathing Space

Breathing Space by Sacred Earth

From the first few notes in the air, like those barely visible trails of refined incense smoke held aloft by some unseen hand, I am hooked. Like gently gravity, Jethro Williams’ flute amidst a wash of Prem Williams’ keyboard tapestries pulls my attention back into my body, all the way down to my toes. My ribcage expands spontaneously. Breathing Space is an apt title.

Liquid Mind X: Meditation

Meditation by Liquid Mind

As a general rule, I believe that meditation or contemplative prayer are best practiced in silence — which means no TV blaring in the background, no MP3 player churning out sound, no computer or stereo making noise within earshot. Even using a so-called white noise machine is, to me, at best a necessary evil: perhaps required to mask the normal distracting sounds of children playing or whatever else might be happening in an adjacent room or apartment: but far less desirable than the pure absence (or near absence) of aural stimulation that only silence embodies.
