Day of Life

Day of Life by Bernward Koch

Day of Life is Bernward Koch’s sixth album of soothing, silky-smooth instrumental music on the Real Music label. The thirteen original pieces are mostly piano/keyboard-based and evoke images of a perfect day. Warm, dreamy, and very relaxing, this could very well be my favorite of Koch’s albums. Not quite a solo effort, Koch’s wife, Christiane Bohm, appears on flute and piccolo on several tracks; and Christoph Koch, Annina Struve, and Johannes Anders play various hand percussion instruments on the closing track.

Dreamweaver

Dreamweaver, Gandalf’s latest release on the Real Music label, is essentially a return to his musical roots. When he began his career in the 1980’s, Gandalf’s music was performed with a small number of guitars, a keyboard and sometimes percussion. Over the years his productions have become bigger and more elaborate and his tours have included many keyboards and synths as well as a full band.

Heading West

Heading West is the fourth Real Music release from guitarist/composer Mike Howe. An ecologist for Welsh national parks by day, Howe’s uncluttered and heartfelt music is always warm, soothing and reassuring. Proving himself to be quite the one-man band, this time Howe performs on guitars, double bass, electric bass, piano, keyboards, and drums in addition to composing, arranging, performing, and producing the music.

Echoes of Love

Omar’s last two releases have been nothing short of impeccable that to expect our listening pleasures to be quenched a third time would be really pushing the expectation boundaries. Well, it appears that during the last three years Omar has propelled himself into the upper stratosphere of high creativity continuing to finalize his very unique musical voice. His effortlessly musical saga continues to integrate World Themes seamlessly with elements of Smooth Jazz and commercial New Age nuances that made the genre a success to begin with.

Sacred Spa Music Series One

As I’ve said before, the folks at Real Music do an especially good job of putting compilations together. The Sacred Spa Music Series Boxed Set consists of three CDs which are also available individually, and which are made up of the most soothing and relaxing tracks from previously released albums. The titles of the individual CDs are “Letting the World Go By”, “Wrapped in Stillness”, and “Quiet Days”. The collection is designed to promote and enhance the healing of “our mental, emotional, and spiritual selves”.
