After a too-long day pecking away at your iBook, it’s time to push play and kick back with iRelax: Leaving the Workday Behind. The soft instrumental tracks on this CD are specifically selected and sequenced to best serve the subtitle’s topic.

The album spans a wide array or Real Music artists’ releases from the past ten years including Omar’s “Passage Into Midnight,” “Bathed in Dawn’s Light” from Kevin Kern, and Yanni’s composition “Whispers in the Dark” performed on grand piano by Danny Wright. The temple bells and chimes in Karunesh’s track “Flowing Bamboo” (Joy of Life) lift a soft shakuhachi flute high above the track’s light drums and hand percussion. Back to Earth’s two songs, both originally released on Kairos: The spirit of Time, dot the play list and include the relaxing interplay of harp and soft, well-played acoustic and electric guitars on “African Princess.” Gandalf’s reflective, light touch on acoustic guitar and keyboards from Sacred River, do indeed remind one of “Blossoms Falling Like Snow” upon a gentle river.

iRelax: Leaving the Workday Behind is best played when one simply needs unwinding from hectic sales or tedious paperwork. During a Busy Day and Anywhere are two other notable discs in the iRelax series.

The third in Real Music's stress-buster iRelax series, Leaving the Workday Behind is designed to do just that: to provide an oasis of calm within the span of a busy day, whether it be in the midst of the hustle and bustle or for after work when you want to kick back. The compilation is a Real Music collection through and through, providing over an hour of the label's trademark style of soothing music, with lush melodies, comforting instrumentation and plenty of heart. The roster includes contributions from Kevin Kern, Karunesh, Govi, Gandalf, Back to Earth and more, all gelling together to provide a soft atmosphere that encourages you to relax and meditate.

Real has a deep and varied catalog just ripe for repositioning as relaxation theme records and the third in this new series shows they are just intent in making the most of the stress the times have heaped upon us. Tasty little set that shows label stalwarts to great advantage ala the old Windham Hill theme repacks, you're sure to find something here to wean you off adrenaline overdoses and give your overworks organs a rest. The peaceful music gauntlet has officially been passed to new centurions.
